Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cash-secured put?
A cash-secured put is when you sell a put option while holding enough cash to buy 100 shares if assigned. You collect premium upfront and either keep it if the stock stays above strike, or buy shares at the strike price.
How do I calculate CSP breakeven?
Breakeven = Strike Price - Premium Received (per share). For example, a $25 strike with $2.50 premium has a breakeven of $22.50.
What is return on capital for options?
Return on capital = (Premium Received / Capital Required) x 100%. For CSPs, capital required is Strike x 100 shares. This shows the percentage return on your secured cash.
